A Beautiful Interloper

Himalayan Balsam on the banks of the River Teign

It was introduced into this country in 1839 but is now a problem plant spreading very quickly. Beautiful though!

Following spotting this plant nearly a week ago, I went along the same part of the river today and found that it had multiplied many times over. I have now reported this plant to the Canal and River Trust.
